UPDATE ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ORACLE ACADEMY IN NOUN AND THE PROVISION OF FREE TRAINING AND LEARNING RESOURCES FOR UNDERGRADUATES

Sequel to the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Education, regarding the establishment of Oracle Academy in Nigerian tertiary institutions, the Vice-Chancellor directed that I serve as the University Representative in the accomplishment of this goal.

Having fulfilled all the requirements for admission, the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) was admitted as an institutional member with all the accruing benefits and NOUN established as an Oracle Academy.

In furtherance of its mission to promote computing education, particularly within the period of the lockdown and beyond, Oracle in collaboration with NOUN, will be providing free training on Java Fundamentals and a platform for hands-on laboratory, for undergraduates in the Department of Computer Science and other students who have registered for CIT104-Introduction to Computer Science.

All students who successfully complete the training will be awarded certificates of participation. At the moment, provision has been made for all students in 100 level who have registered for CIT104- Introduction to Computer Science, to register for and participate in the training commencing on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Please find attached a step-by-step guide for students’ registration. In view of the foregoing, we wish to request that you kindly bring this information to the attention of all 100 level students who have registered for CIT104- Introduction to Computer Science, through their Study Centre Directors.
